Codes, Conventions, and Language

Codes, conventions, and language come together to form media with all of it elements. If you think enough about it you're able to understand that each individual thing has much more to it and combine those together you get the bigger picture. If you put two and two together codes and conventions help produce the every media texts you see, both form recognizable ways of media text. There are many different types of codes used to make up the media you see. Let's say for example ads seen are a variation a form of codes, conventions, and languages put together.

Media Convergence

Media convergence is the ability to access anything online at anytime/anywhere, by many people, and having a variety of different sources. One prime example of media convergence is all forms of social media. Social media like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Youtube, and Tiktok are considered a part of media convergence because they are all differing sources and can be accessed basically at anytime and anywhere and by multiple people at once.

Looking at Movies Refelction

To start off cinematic language is the way any form of film is constructed. For example, a movie or the episodes of a tv show is constructed with more than just good lighting and a camera. That is where cinematic language come into place. Cinematic language is made up of many different camera angles, lighting effects, sound effects, and many other formulas of cinematic language happening in a film. This helps me or maybe even you understand what is meant by cinematic language. Cinematic language is meant to hook in the viewer and keep them hooked until the very last few minutes of the film so the viewer can be able to say they found it entertaining, interesting, or any other adjectives used to describe an addicting film. This also explain why it is important to the way films communicate with viewers because of the different scenes and effects put into making the movie great makes the viewer enjoy taking time to watch the entirety of the film. For example, in a suspenseful film it is

Representation

The term representation plays a key role in media studies and has many different aspects to it. Representation helps to emphasize the things you see in media like movies, tv shows, etc., that don't always present a more direct approach of the real world. The term is able to suggest that media represents things constantly over and over again until it eventually becomes natural to the viewers' mind. The idea of representation in comparison to Stuart Hall's theory is that representation is apart of the world in which it tries to represent and the representation provides a sort of map that is able to help give meaning to the world through forms of media. For example, in the show  the Originals,  vampires, werewolves, witches, etc., are the representation of powerful beings in the world compared to humans and ordinary animals. Obviously, when you first watch the show you're not used to the concept or the representation of the "beings," but eventually you watch enou

Approaching Media Texts Reflection

The idea of social construction is the make up of society and the way they think. Social construction is able to relate to media studies because of the influence of in-depth thinking put into it, if that makes sense. Social construction is the way you and others think. You and everyone around you are bound to have their own opinions and feelings on different subjects. Not everyone will think the way you think and you won't think the way everyone else thinks. Its relation to media studies is the fact that everyone is able to have a outlook on medias and share their own opinions. Media could never be limited to certain people because many different people come across it share it and criticize or compliment it. An example would be a group of people only like to see architectural posts or designing posts and most of the time that's all they see but once in a while a puppy or nail art would pop up on their timeline. Although that may not appeal to them, they'll see it. If that m

Boomers Concept for Critical Reading

Image
The Boomers Concept for Critical Reading was a chapter back from October. This theory helped me with many things. It helped better my process for reflecting on different materials by helping my way of understanding how to analyze them evolve greatly. Before going over this chapter I used to watch, listen, or read without any intention of understanding the bigger things happening or being put into the film, book, or song. I was also able to analyze and look further into material and understand things implied or things obvious.
