Representation

The term representation plays a key role in media studies and has many different aspects to it. Representation helps to emphasize the things you see in media like movies, tv shows, etc., that don't always present a more direct approach of the real world. The term is able to suggest that media represents things constantly over and over again until it eventually becomes natural to the viewers' mind. The idea of representation in comparison to Stuart Hall's theory is that representation is apart of the world in which it tries to represent and the representation provides a sort of map that is able to help give meaning to the world through forms of media. For example, in the show the Originals, vampires, werewolves, witches, etc., are the representation of powerful beings in the world compared to humans and ordinary animals. Obviously, when you first watch the show you're not used to the concept or the representation of the "beings," but eventually you watch enough of it, it becomes natural to you to be able to watch the show about the creatures. I could probably guess what you're thinking and no the fictional creatures don't represent that there are creatures on this earth who exist with abilities like them, but it represents something deeper if you really look and observe. Like it's stated or implied.. representation is more in implied than straightforward.

 I was able to take the feedback positively and eventually submitted a better second sketch than the first. My first sketch I did digitally and sped through it and it was noticeable it was rushed. Since my first sketch I worked on taking my time and doing research on different layouts in order to come up with my final result. Since the feedback I changed the number of text boxes to a lesser amount. Also, on the inside pages I divided the pages in half and had a picture bleed onto the other page and tried to make everything neat and have its own space. I'd say I changed the layout completely, but one thing I kept the same was the idea of the cover page.

“How does my product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?” My product uses or challenges conventions by being a little different than a regular magazines you see done by professionals or sold in stores. The conventions of my magazine are based off of different inspirations from famous magazines and combined together. “How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?” My product engages with audiences by being a worldwide problem many people are dealing with and have been dealing with, but more now because of Covid-19. Looking at Movies Refelction

  To start off cinematic language is the way any form of film is constructed. For example, a movie or the episodes of a tv show is constructed with more than just good lighting and a camera. That is where cinematic language come into place. Cinematic language is made up of many different camera angles, lighting effects, sound effects, and many other formulas of cinematic language happening in a film. This helps me or maybe even you understand what is meant by cinematic language. Cinematic language is meant to hook in the viewer and keep them hooked until the very last few minutes of the film so the viewer can be able to say they found it entertaining, interesting, or any other adjectives used to describe an addicting film.
